As the name would suggest Tri-blend T-shirts are made from a fabric which comprises three different types of material. The blend of these three materials together makes a super soft feeling fabric which a lot of people make their “go to” T-Shirt once they have worn one for the first time.
So what exactly are the materials used in a Tri-blend T-Shirt?
Tri-Blend T-Shirts are made from a mix of Cotton, Polyester & Rayon (or Viscose). Most people know about cotton and polyester but a lot of people are not so sure what rayon is. Well, rayon is the key ingredient in making a Tri-Blend T-shirt feel super soft. Rayon was originally manufactured as a cheaper alternative to silk, so you can imagine how soft it is. The polyester and cotton is added to help the garments retain their shape and make them more durable, as rayon on its own would not make for a particularly good garment. Even though it would be incredibly soft next to the skin.
What are the benefits of a Tri-Blend T-Shirt?
Well, as we have mentioned Tri-blend T-Shirts are incredibly soft indeed. That is their main selling point. They are also slightly lighter than your standard T-Shirt making them suitable for a variety of different uses. They are as equally at home as part of a T-Shirt fashion range as they are in the gym or part of an athleisure range.
Tri-Blend T-Shirts will also shrink less than a standard 100% cotton T-Shirt. With that said, all T-Shirts with any element of cotton, will shrink slightly but the introduction of polyester and rayon means that the shrinkage isn’t as great as it is in a 100% cotton T-Shirt.
